"Excellent service at children's ED"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 8 yo daughter was really poorly with pains in her chest, coughing and a temperature. We spent 2 hours in our GPs whilst they decided what to do with her.

They decided to send her to the childrens ED at Birmingham Heartlands hospital. The man at the emergency department was so polite and helpful, he directed us through to the childrens ED where the nurses in there were excellent. There were lots of toys available for the children to play with.

It was fairly busy and they ensured that everybody was ok with a smile on their face. It was a lovely clean environment.

Then the young doctor came and introduced himself, he gave my daughter a thourough examination and gave me advice and management.

Many thanks for taking time to give this feedback. You will be aware how busy our emergency departments have been and the staff are facing a lot of challenges. They always do their best to have a smile on their face; it can be difficult when it gets very busy but they manage it so often- they are a team I am really proud of, so it is great to be able to give them such good feedback.

I hope your daughter is feeling better and you all enjoy Christmas.

Matthew
