"left feeling worried after 20 weeks ultrasound scan"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Hello,

I had my 20 weeks of pregnancy scan last week and had a very bad experience with the lady who has done it.

I am french I had my first baby in France, I feel quite lost and lonely here but she made me and husband feel even worse.

We got in the room, she said that she would be teaching someone during the ultrasound which is fine people need to learn, we also asked to give us the sex of the baby at the end of the scan when we know that everything is fine, however she didnt listen she said the sex straight away, I dont know if she tried to impress the other guy but she was talking very fast, all medical terms, changing pictures of the baby very quickly, it lasted in total 8mins, I felt like I could of left my belly on the table it would of been the same, she had no respect for me whatsoever.

When she had finished, my husband asked if it was defently a girl (as she didnt show anything and we were both very surprised) she said "yes", I asked if she could double check as I feel like I need to see and her answer was really strict and was not really nice "NO I know how check a heart so I know how to check the sex of a baby", I left very upset, I feel like I still dont know the sex, she did not reassure us at all, she wasnt understanding, and very hard on us. This moment that was suppose to be magical turned into a bad time, I am getting worried now about the birth and the staff of Norwich Hospital.

Is there a chance I could see someone else?

RegardS
