"Bring back St cross hospital"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

As far as we are concerned the hospital is under manned and overcrowded. The a&e department is terrible, my husband was taken in by ambulance from rugby and spent 13 hours,on a trolley before he was taken to a ward, 3 hrs of that was spent in a corridor with a lot of other elderly patients on trolley s whilst the cubicles were taken up with people worse for wear sleeping it off.surely it should be the other way round. There is no dignity no seats for people who accompany the patients and you could die of thirst before they offer you a drink, you need to take your own, ward 12 is very good and ward 33 short stay, needs a lot of improvement they need to learn how to answer the phone. It would improve things in a& e if you had a separate area for the treatment of drunks and drug users with staff trained to deal with them, thus freeing up space and manpower to look after the genuine cases.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at University Hospital, Coventry. I am sorry to hear about you and your husband's experience. It is concerning to hear about that he had to wait in a corridor for three hours. Obviously, these are not the standards we strive for. However, we have a duty to care to all for all our patients regardless of their actions and background. Our A&E staff are working as hard as they can to see all patients in the quickest and most efficient way possible, while ensuring that every patient's needs are taken care of. I have shared your comments with the matrons of A&E, ward 12 and ward 33 short stay so they can feedback to their staff and try to ensure a better experience for yourselves and other patients in the future.
