"I took an overdose at the age of 16 and because I..."

About: Prospect Park Hospital

I took an overdose at the age of 16 and because I had taken my GCSE exams I was too old to stay at the hospital on the children's ward to have time and a safe environment where I could reflect, so I was transferred to prospect. I was treated as if I shouldn't be scared of being around older people with more severe mental health problems thean myself. never spoken to snd shouted at by staff. not a beneficial environment for younger people.

Hello,

Thank you for your posting and please accept my apologies for the belated response. This was clearly a difficult experience for you and I hope that things have improved for you in the interim. We try to avoid placing young people on adult wards if at all possible and this is not a common occurence. I am sorry if you found the environment difficult. I will share this with senior staff to make them aware. Please contact me should you wish to discuss this further.

Yours Sincerely,

Trevor Lyalle
