"Medical care was great but the conditions were not good"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

On the day of my appointment the ophthalmology department was very busy. Nevertheless, I was dealt with in a brisk and businesslike way. My appointment letter said that my visit would take one and a half hours and that was just bout right. All the staff were friendly and professional, the standard of care was very high. The staff managed well in poor conditions. The department looks as though it was adapted temporarily some years ago and needs a modern replacement. The corridor is the waiting room which is leading to an oppressive, crowded atmosphere. Notices tell you that standing in the corridor is not allowed! One male patient sat on the floor when all chairs were full rather than leave the department to wait elsewhere. Medical care was great but the conditions were not good.
