"Dreadful stay,"

About: Colchester General Hospital

I arrived by ambulance the day the CQC were in A&E. Was shunted straight into a very cold SAU unit, where my problem was wrongly recorded on my notes. When the time to move to a ward came the porter could not manage the bed so my wife had to help. Treatment on the ward was delayed until late evening. I was ignored for 10 minutes when I needed urgent help and pulled the alarm, and was discharged in pain and without proper consultation to sort my illness out on my own. Little sign of any 'care' here. I would estimate that 24 hours in there set my recovery back a week,

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Comment on General Surgery at RDEE4-Colchester General Hospital at 15/12/2014 22:33:31”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
