"Excellent service"

About: Colchester General Hospital

I attended A & E in Colchester last Monday night as my 20 month old son had trapped his finger in a door. Considering how busy the department was, we were seen relatively quickly. While we were waiting, there were plenty of toys for my son to play with which was a really good distraction! The staff were really friendly, compassionate and helpful. A student nurse was particularly sweet and even got a bear for my son to cuddle! He's really attached to it now, think it saw him through traumatic times! When his finger was being cleaned up, he was asleep which shows just how gentle the nurse and doctor were being. We were referred to Broomfield hospital as, the following day, my son had to have a operation on his finger in the plastics department (which Colchester does not have) but feel he was thoroughly checked over and dealt with to the best of the ability of all the staff while in Colchester's A & E care.

Many thanks for your comments and taking the time to submit them. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We have a quarterly At Our Best Awards scheme which recognises staff achievements and thanks them for what they do. It has a team category, an individual and a volunteer category. You could enter the team/the person you were kind enough to write in about, by clicking here! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/At_Our_Best_Awards Also, could you email me, using the reference “+ve Comment on Accident and emergency services at RDEE4-Colchester General Hospital at 14/12/2014 12:26:12”, please so we can pass on your good wishes?
