"Kind and caring staff in children's outpatients"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

We recent had an outpatients appointment for my 9 year old daughter. What a lovely experience!

The reception staff were plesant, friendly and efficient. We were called in to our appointment exactly on time and Dr Petkar couldn't have been more gentle, caring and thorough. She made my daughter feel totally at ease and explained everything plainly to myself and my husband. She was so thorough where other Doctors have been dismissive.

My daughter then had to have a series of blood tests, we were only waiting a short time before we were called in. The Nurse Alison and Playworkers Angela and Suzanne were nothing less than amazing, they explained absolutely everything to my daughter with such consideration and sensitivity to put her at ease, I was so touched.

When my daughter felt a bit faint after the bloods were taken Angela was immediately vigilant when even us her parents were oblivious. She acted immediately to soothe her and cool her down, then gave her a cup of lucozade whilst Suzanne sponged the back of her neck and forehead. I am bowled over by the loving, caring nature of these ladies as they must do the same day in day out.

All the staff at this hospital that we encountered were equally as helpful, friendly and happy. Even the porters who spotted that we looked lost, immediately offered their help with a smile.

We have been to a number of hosiptals with my daughter over the years but I've never found one where absolutely every member of staff is as happy, friendly, caring and efficient!

Thank you so much, it makes all the difference and we are very grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to post these lovely comments. We are working hard to ensure patients receive the best care and treatment and it is great to receive feedback like this. I will ensure your comments are passed to all involved in your daughters care.

Thank you again and may I take this opportunity on behalf of myself and the staff to wish you and your family well.

‘’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed.
