I was admitted in January 2012 and was scared stiff of going into a mental health facility. You hear so many bad stories. This was completely different. The staff were very caring, from psychiatrists to the cleaners. The food was wonderful. Like home cooking. The ward was clean and comfortable. The bedrooms were satisfactory but chilly on a winter's night. There were ward rounds twice per week and the consultant often came to see me in between. I had great psychological counselling from a wondering psychologist. It was better than private treatment I believe. The outdoor space was mixed-sex which was scary at times. Alot of patients smoked outside which wasn't great from a health point of view. Overall I would highly recommend their caring attitude towards patients from all walks of life. If you or your relative are admitted, please do not be afraid as it will be for the best in the long run and you could not get better care anywhere, I believe.
