"Repeat Prescriptions - is this cost effective?"

About: NHS West Kent CCG

(as the patient),

Ive just changed my doctor as I've moved to a new area, I take Levothyroxine and have been told by this new doctor that they'll only give me a prescription for 1 month at a time, is this really cost and time effective for the NHS and myself, I will be taking these pills for the rest of my life, my previous doctor would let me have three months at a time on a prescription. This means every month I will have to apply for a repeat prescription, go and collect it from my doctors

, take it to a chemist and more than likely have to go back to collect the pills and the doctor will have to waste his time and NHS money by printing out said prescription and signing it when he could be seeing patients, this rule at this doctors goes for every patient they have that need a prescription on a regular basis. I really don't understand how this is good practice and also makes for unhappy patients.
