My Uncle has complex healthcare issues requiring intensive support. He has Laurence Moon Bardet Biedl Syndrome, bowel cancer, learning disabilities, sleep apnoea, double incontinence and has recently suffered from a stroke. Due to the above conditions, he is immobile and requires a hoist to get him out of and back into bed.
He is currently a patient in Witney community hospital where he cannot stay on a permanent basis. He underwent a NHS continuing healthcare assessment, the results of which deemed him to not meet the criteria for NHS funded continuing care. This assessment seemed to take place over the phone, without someone at Oxfordshire continuing care department, visiting him in hospital to make a complete and more informed assessment.
"deemed as not meeting criteria for continuing care"
