"Rheumatology Physiotherapy"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

Having been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis this year and experiencing a poor service from the medical team I would like to comment on how much of a stark contrast my Physiotherapy experience was. I was seen by a member of staff who I immediately found to be genuinely interested and concerned re my physical problems. He was the first professional who offered advice on the condition giving me information on how best to look after my joints and manage the condition. I was impressed at how he made the extra effort to fit me into his clinic to ensure a weekly appointment and with his help my range of movement has significantly increased and my pain reduced in the joints we focused on. He also contacted my medical team on my behalf to report my struggles and request an earlier appointment which really made me feel that I was eventually being taken seriously and made a huge difference. Their physiotherapy treatment combined with his caring nature, proactive approach and advice have really helped in making me feel better and in helping me to further manage my condition in the future so thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you so much for taking the time to give the physiotherapy team this important feedback. I know they will be delighted to hear about the difference they made to the way you were able to manage your condition. It is very reassuring to know that you have felt truly listened to and involved in all aspects of the care you have received from the one physiotherapist in particular. I have shared your comments with Jonathon Kelly who is the manager of the Physiotherapy service and I know he would be keen to share it with the member of staff concerned. If you would be happy to email me to let who this was I would very much appreciate it. I would also be happy to share the concerns you have had with you medical treatment if you think this would be helpful? My email address is annie.laverty@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk With kind regards, Annie
