"Amberwood"

About: Littlebrook Hospital

I spent just under a month on Amberwood Ward. I am now fully recovered and would like to thank the nursing team and psychiatrists who treated me with care and respect. Even the cleaners made my days more bearable by being friendly and having a joke with me. There are a number of nursing staff that I still think of today, who spent time talking to me and reassuring me when I was scared or upset. One member of staff I remember very well, she was very comforting when I was confuse and sad. There are many other members of staff I would like to name and thanks but maybe not in this review. I enjoyed the occupational therapy available, the gardens and art room were great. The en suite bedrooms were light and comfortable, although I had problems with overflowing showers. The food was good. The TV rooms were a little dated with dusty board games with most bits missing. On the whole my family and friends felt safe and happy to be able to visit me there. Having an all female ward is very important to me as being around males during a psychosis can be more distressing.
