After visiting the ENT Department today for my 5 year old son to have a check up on his grommets I am extremely annoyed with the treatment I have received from our consultant. After trying to explain that his condition had deteriorated the last couple of months and he was struggling to hear us, I was fobbed off with him having selective hearing. Amazingly she knew my son better than I did after 30 seconds of meeting him and the fact that she interrupted what I was saying mid sentence making her a mind reader as well, amazes me. I was beginning to say that he has to keep asking me to repeat what I'm saying over and over until he understands me and he doesn't hear me at all if I speak when I'm standing behind him, isn't really what I would say to be selective hearing,..but hey, 5 years of being a parent doesn't amount to a university degree does it? Also having to wait 6 months for an appointment, only to be belittled and patronised really wasn't how i expected today to go. Although she did help take a grommet out for my son who had discomfort there for quite some time, we were just sent away with another appointment in 9 months time. The doctor, you should really be answering people's queries and worries and listen to them Before making a formal decision surely? Being treated the exact way you treated us today was the exact reason why my son was deaf and couldn't speak properly for 2 years... It looked okay on paper so why argue with that? So wrong and definitely may be a contributing factor as to why this is Britons worst hospital.
"Absolutely disgusted"
