I unfortunately had to attend Southport A&E on Friday the 22ndMay09. I found the lack of professional care and treatment I received shocking!
Due to my illness, I lost use of my legs causing me to collapse. I woke up on the hospital floor with nurses and patients stood watching me. I tried to get myself up managing to get myself to a standing position, but again hit the floor. A nurse told the other staff I was ok and to just leave me. I was then told to get myself to a chair. I had lost use of speech and my legs. On trying to move, I collapsed another 5 or 6 times onto the hard floor, while everyone (staff and patients) just left me. As a result I suffered from bruising and sprained wrists and hit my head a number of times. I was in considerable distress.
As a result of this, I was left embarrassed and extremely traumatised to the point that I will never attend hospital again. And if my illness becomes extreme again, I would prefer to collapse and hit my head at home and risk dying than go for treatment at this hospital. I will also be complaining directly to the hospital.
