"Out standing care"

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

Having had an extremely frightening experience at another hospital two weeks previous I found myself full of dread as I travelled once more in the back of an emergency ambulance. This time however I had the great fortune to be admitted via A&E to ward 31 and into the hands of the most amazing staff nurse and health care assistant I had ever met. Within 20 minutes of being on the ward I felt the safest I had felt in two weeks as these two members of staff treated me with genuine concern and care. They gave me constant reassurance and support whilst I waited for the surgical team and I will be for ever grateful to them. Having had my surgery and spent a couple of days on ICU I returned to ward 31 where I continued to receive the same level of excellent care from the whole ward team mixed with just the right amount of humour and encouragement. This team is a shinning example of how the commitment of dedicated and truly caring staff can provide outstanding care despite the pressure put on them by an under funded health service. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
