"Fantastic consultants - awful nursing and..."

About: University College Hospital

Had complex highly skilled airways surgery at UCLH, consultants first class. Shame the nursing care was so dreadful. Taking canular out, my blood was sucked up into the drip then sprayed across the cubicle and up the dividing curtains and down the bedding. Cleaning was limited to smearing the blood with a tissue. No wonder infections are rife! Nurses then determined to keep me in overnight even though consultants had discharged me. No wonder theres no beds free & waiting lists.

Response from University College Hospital

Thank you for taking the time to feed back to us. We're so pleased that you found the respiratory consultants at UCLH to be first class, however we are very sorry to hear about your recent experience of respiratory nursing care. We would be grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) via pals@uclh.nhs.uk or by calling 020 3447 3042 so that we can look into this.
