I was sent to the A and E department at Darent Valley from Gravesend on Wednesday November 26th, after an elderly lady I was accompanying was diagnosed with a broken shoulder following a fall. I cannot speak highly enough of the care we received while we were there. A nurse came out to the car with a wheelchair to help me bring the lady in as I couldn't manage her on my own. After triage, the Consultant attended to the lady almost immediately and was patient and kind while she explained the many details of her predicament. The nurse on duty that day, took especial care of her and was attentive throughout our wait, although it was obvious that he was busy. One physiotherapist took trouble to ensure that she could walk with a stick which he provided, and another checked that she could manage the stairs alone. She was even given a sandwich and a drink to be going on with. We waited again while a care package was arranged, for a carer morning and evening and meals on wheels every day. As she lives alone this was invaluable. I was similarly impressed with the treatment we received at Gravesend that morning.
