"Hospital Staff"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I wrote to RPH in January of this year to express my thanks to the staff at the Royal Preston Hospital this is the follow up letter that highlights my treatment since that time. On 17th July I was admitted into RPH for a planned Cardiooesophagectomy, operated on the following day, being transferred onto ICU and then Ward 11 on the 24th July. Please thank on my behalf the nursing staff in ICU for all the care and attention they gave me, and the support they offered my family at such a worrying time. To my shame I cannot remember the names of those amazing people, but I hope I made them laugh at my antics while under the influence on drugs. I would ask their forgiveness if I was rude or uncooperative. Unfortunately on the 29th July things started to go wrong and I was taken back for future surgery and returning onto ICU. Again my family and I received the same care and support as I spent further time in the Critical Care Unit until my return to Ward 11 on 6th August. I’m pleased to say that I do remember one of the nursing staff, who along with all of those in the department were first class. While this letter is being sent to say thank you, there’s so much more than two words can say. From 6th August until my discharge on 30th September, I spent all of my time in Ward 11 under the care of the Ward Manager, and the two Sisters. I would have loved the opportunity to comment on the catering on the Ward but! Unfortunately I was “Nil by Mouth” for almost all the time I was on the Ward. What a marvelous team has been assembled on Ward 11, I was witness to the Care and Professionalism in the 8 weeks I spent on the ward. Time and again the Sister’s demonstrated people and medical know how, as did the Staff Nurses. I’m pleased to say that all the Staff Nurses on the ward displayed the same level of care as those mentioned, but not forgetting the Care Assistants, and the list could go on. At my recent meeting with my consultant and the Upper GI Nurses to discuss my progress, it was interesting to hear the GI Nurse say it was a team effort (including me) to get me to where I am now. I would like to express my thanks to that wonderful team of which I was delighted, not sure that’s quite the correct expression, to be a member. I hope that all your efforts are worthwhile and have allowed me a longer life, what more can I say to you all. My sincere thanks to the staff of the RPH for being there for me. Jeff Flitcroft

Thank you very much for your further generous and positive feedback. The staff in both areas do work very hard to ensure that they provide high quality care and I'm pleased to hear that was reflected in the standerd of care you received from all staff. Please be assured that your feedback has been shared with senior medical and nursing staff to feed-back to all other staff.
