I ended up spending a week in the hands of the Antenatal and maternity units at Warrington hospital, in several different wards/ departments. All the midwives/ doctors I saw were amazing and they looked after me with not only care, but warmth, friendliness and empathy. This to me exceeding by far what I expected and indeed what they professionally needed to provide. For me it was a scary week at times, being my first and also a few weeks early, but they were all so reassuring and diligent in their jobs so that I knew I was in the best hands. I came across so many good midwives they are too numerous to mention, however I do have to make a special comment on the Delivery Suite midwives. From the minute she colected me from the Induction ward and said 'come on we are going to have a baby' I knew I was in great hands, and although my fears did not entirely subside, I knew I would be ok. They were a very special team, none of whom I will forget, over the 24 or so hours I was in their care, they were confident, caring, professional and so lovely, it made a difficult birth (perhaps not in their eyes, but in mine!) memorable for some good reasons- not just the delivery, finally, of our baby girl at a small but perfect 5lb 9oz. The midwives took me upto the ward themselves, this maybe normal practice, but is a very nice practice and they sent me off with warm hugs. The first midwife even came to see me on the ward later when she was back on shift, which was really touching. To say they all do this day in day out, it is quite something that they can make you feel that special, and not just another birth or another mum.
"Fantastic maternity care"
