"Thanks to Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore"

About: The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Many thanks to the staff at Stanmore for looking after my 89 year old mother when she came to the hospital for three weeks over Christmas for major surgery.

Their Hospital may be very old and tired and in major need of investment and/or replacement but the nursing care provided was exemplary.

We have two small crticisms - her appointment letter offering a date for the operation arrived several weeks AFTER the surgery had been done (!?) and Physiotherapy ceased stone dead as soon as she left hospital. It was impossible to get NHS rehabilitation Physio once out of hospital, as a direct result of which see suffered a fall and fractured a hip, requiring another in patient stay at another hospital. It is very poor economic management of your resources to deny inexpensive physio, and cause a further three week hospital stay!
