"Why can't the NHS make more of the web?"

About: Hull Teaching PCT

(as a staff member),

Why are we still not utilising applications like Facebook / YouTube to make connections with the public? Many public sector agencies, including government, do.

Dear Peter1

Thank you for raising the matter of the PCT using applications like Facebook and YouTube. The PCT does use these applications – but unfortunately NHS staff are unable to see them due to our firewalls. For example, PhysioDirect has something on YouTube. Whilst we expect this is the kind of thing that will increase in popularity and usage in the future, the simple fact is that our staff are unable to view and therefore populate these sites - meaning that it just isn’t a viable option at this time.

We value all feedback and if you would like to discuss this further do not hesitate to contact either contact our Communications Team or the Patient Advice & Liaison Service on 335409 or email on pals@hullpct.nhs.uk.

Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your views.
