"A happy hernia day patient in Paignton"

A big thank you to the day care unit for the treatment I received on Monday 26th March for my hernia operation. In fact, considering that the NHS gets such bad press generally, and having had vitually no experience of it up till this point, maybe I was just lucky and dealt with a very efficient section.

My doctor - Dr. Gillian Richards at Corner Place Surgery, was very efficient, as was the consultant at Paignton Hospital. My wait for surgery was not excessive, my pre-op went well and the medical team were very attentive on the day of the op. The nurses must have checked me 6 times whilst I was in recovery!

I remember that a recent report suggested that nurses should smile more to aid recovery - all the nurses who dealt with me were very pleasant (and smiling!), and the following morning early, as promised, a nurse telephoned me to ask how I had coped during the night.
