"Thankyou all at Countess Of Chester Hospital "

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital / Accident and emergency Countess Of Chester Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to the Countess Of Chester Hospital, suffering from a really bad Infection in a Pressure Wound that I have, that had got into my bloodstream. I was extremely poorly when I arrived at the hospital, taken straight through to a cubicle within the a&e dept, as my GP had already rung ahead and told them to expect me. I only waited a short time for a doctor to come and examine me, who turned out to be a consultant and the head of the a&e dept that day, which you don't often get. He was very thorough and explained everything to me and my mum, who came with me as I was so poorly I could hardly stay awake. He was extremely down to earth and explained everything so that we could understand and didn't need to ask questions, but had we needed too, it wouldn't have been a problem. I immediately felt at ease with him.

I was then transferred up onto the medical assessment unit and was then visited by another couple of doctors more to do with my condition and who would be treating me. Again I was treated with the utmost respect and care, as did the nursing team, I was then left to rest but if I needed anything there was never anybody far away. I was just settling down for the night at about 1am, after all my tests and examinations had finished, when I was informed that I was being taken up to the ward where I was going to be staying during my admission. This slightly annoyed me, but I thought, well at least they are finding me a bed and must need this bed for somebody else. When I was taken up to Ward 30 where I stayed, I was greeted by a staff nurse on night duty, who I think was in charge that evening. She immediately introduced herself, despite it being quite late in the night early hours of the morning. She got me a jug of water and my call bell and told me that if their was anything I needed all I had to do was press the button and they would be there. And true to her word they were, I found this whenever I used this method, as I got worse a couple of days later before getting better.

I have to say that everybody I came into contact with, the nursing team, the domestics, the doctors and everybody else acted with a great deal of professionalism and care. I have heard a lot of bad things about this hospital and have myself in the past criticised them, but on this occasion I could not fault them at all. Please Countess Of Chester, keep up the excellent work and you won't go wrong.
