"Lovely hard working staff. Extremely well looked..."

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

I had to be induced and had a long labor of 12 hours before an emergency c section.i was in hospital for almost a week. From beginning to end I couldn't fault the care. It was clear however how understaffed they were at times but none of the staff were ever stressed they just got on with it with a smiles on there faves. In my case I came across a lot of different people doctors midwifes surgeons cleaners trolly lady's ! . They were all so nice and professional and some would stop and have a little chat if they had time. They cleanliness was really good too I had heard rumours about the showers but they were fine and there is a sign that says if you wish it to be cleaned just ask a member of staff who will do it right away. My midwife for labor was an amazing women who would comfort me through contractions like a caring mum not just a professional. During surgury I was nervous but I had this lovely head over me all the time making sure I was ok and talking to me, the anesiatist not sure of her name. After care was great even though it was late the girls that were caring for me bed bathed me to make me feel better. Overall the things that these midwifes do daily to make you comfortable right down to changing your pads and cleaning up your labor mess! They do a fantastic job and deserve a lot of credit. Would highly recommend this maternity unit to any of my friends.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on NHS Choices. It is always lovely to hear positive feedback from patients on the quality of care and treatment they have received. I will ensure that your kind words are received by the staff in the maternity unit, who I’m sure, will be delighted. Mary Edwards, Chief Executive Email: mary.edwards@hhft.nhs.uk
