I was a patient in Adferiad for nearly 6 months. All the nursing staff were nice but Jamie had something special about him. I am clinically obese which has made me very angry, even though I am of course solely responsible for what I eat. Jamie really helped me to manage this anger and look to the future rather than dwelling in the past.
Although my weight continued to increase when I was in hospital, I have been on a healthy eating plan since leaving and, with the support of Andy Hayes (NHS Nutritionist) have started to lose weight healthily. In hospital, I suffered insomnia but Jamie let me talk when I couldn't sleep and invariably I got back to sleep, with far fewer nightmares than I'd had over the previous few months.
My 4 year old son wasn't allowed to visit me on the ward but Jamie encouraged me to keep a photograph in my bedroom and this helped a lot.
I really hope my comments can be sent through to Jamie. His job must be extremely demanding and draining for much of the time but I want him to know how much his help meant to me. I now see my son 3 times a week and my love for him is boundless.
