I had a traffic accident two weeks ago, all seemed ok at the time. 24 hours later I developed severe pain in my back, neck and shoulder. Still being in some considerable pain, I called my gp today to book an appointment, only to be told I have to wait two weeks!
The receptionist then told me to go to a & e if I didn't want to wait that long.
My pain is not life threatening or urgent enough to warrant being seen in the casualty department. However, it is restricting my day to day life, my ability to drive and my ability to do my job. Because of this I feel I have no choice but to waste the time of the team in the casualty department, all because my gp can't give me an appointment.
