Far too understaffed

"Far too understaffed"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / General medicine

Every time I am admitted to this hospital it stresses me out no end. They are far too understaffed for any patients to receive an acceptable level of care, and I feel those who are working there are now so jaded after being so understaffed that they appear to irritate easily and therefore patient care suffers.

One member of staff made me cry trying to give me details, no doubt because they had had to deal with some nasty people earlier.

I feel if you are going to understaff an essential resource like a hospital, at least staff it with people who can deal with the pressures they are put under every day!

Always an utter disappointment.

I am really sorry that you felt stressed and disappointed about there not being enough staff on duty when you came to use the our hospitals facilities, we do recognise that having the right number of staff on duty is really important to our patients.

We have systems in place to check that the staffing levels met our patient’s needs, however there are odd occasions when staffing falls below these expected levels. On these occasions we make sure patients are safe by moving staff from one area to another or we bring in additional bank staff.

Our staff are trained and should be able to cope with fluctuations in workload, however I am very sorry if they displayed that they were irritated clearly unacceptable behaviour. In conclusion I would like to thank you for bringing this issue to our attention we will ensure that we use your feedback to draw our staff attention to how they are being perceived by users of our services.
