I'm absolutely appalled by new cross A&E. After taking 3 home pregnancy tests which all were positive, I started severely cramping and bleeding at 5 wks.
I was taken to the hospital via ambulance with suspected ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. I was then made to wait 3 hours to see a doctor. The doctor felt my stomach which was very tender and painful, he then checked my urine for a pregnancy test which came back negative, he wasn't happy to rely on this result so took my bloods...however he didn't wear gloves which is unacceptable as he was dabbing my blood off himself. The results came back that I was in fact pregnant so he sent me to a ward.
Even though this doctor didn't wear gloves he was in fact very helpful and tactful. When I got to the ward another doctor told me I wasn't pregnant and that they had been arguing with the other doctor over my results, I explained I'm not happy that they can not agree or work together as I was getting very upset at this point.
The doctor then proceeded to do an internal to say straight after that they wouldn't be able to tell if I was miscarrying from an internal anyway so I could not understand why the doctor put me through this by carrying it out when the doctor wouldn't be able to tell anyway.
The doctor then practically was calling me a liar saying I wasn't pregnant, I told the doctor I had children already and knew my own body and symptoms and that all 3 tests were positive and that the other doctor too had a positive result.
The doctor went on to say that it was probably a chemical pregnancy then, the doctor didn't explain what this was, they just kept talking to me like I was stupid.
I asked the doctor if the other doctor could come up as I was being given different information and I was not happy. The doctor refused and said I was just having my normal period, this was NOT a normal period.
I said can't the doctor just scan me to find out for sure but I was refused. I told the doctor I knew my own body which the doctor then just stormed off leaving me upset and confused.
I then had to go and find someone to take my Cannula out and the doctor just ignored me so a nurse took it out for me. The doctor was defiantly not a doctor who is meant to help patients and put them at ease. I then went home still cramping and bleeding heavenly, only 4 days on am I started to feel better. I would not recommend the hospital to anyone and will go to a different hospital in future.
