"Thank you from all our family"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Continence advisory service

(as a carer),

Excellent service. My dad suffers from vascular dementia and has recently become incontinent. We are trying everything to keep him at home but were really struggling as to how to approach this. We were sent some charts to fill in but unfortunately Mum could not manage these. (They are far too difficult for any older person to comprehend). We were then visited very soon after our initial call by Stephanie Millis. From the moment she entered our house she put our minds totally at rest. We found it a very difficult subject but she helped us to speak about our worries. She approached the whole visit with total professionalism and was very aware of how to deal with a patient with dementia. Not only did she give us some excellent advise but can also provide us, free of charge, with some of the things Dad will need now (e. g. pads, mattress covers). She examined dad there and then and told us the results of his scan (no anxious waits) and also collected a sample. This was done throughout with full consideration to Dad's dignity. I will have no hesitation in contacting them should the need arise in the future. Thank You Stephanie from all our family.

I am delighted that you have had such a positive experience of the service provided by Stephanie who is a member of our community continence team. The team has extensive experience in dealing with people suffering with dementia and understands the challenges family's face when their relative has continence issues.

This service was launched in January 2013 and one of the aims was to ensure any tests and investigations were done as part of that fist assessment. I am very pleased that you were impressed with the system we have in place and hope we have played some part in helping you support your dad at home.
