"They do the NHS great credit"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Maxillo-Facial surgery

(as the patient),

Found a lump in my lower jaw, GP referred me to the UHNM maxillofacial deptt. Appointment came through very quickly, was seen by surgeon Mr P Grime. Was referred for biopsy, then has to have a blood test and CT scan- was operated on last week, took about two and a half months in total. Have been very impressed overall with the maxillofacial department and the standards of care and professionalism. The department was very clean and well managed, staff extremely friendly and helpful. I found Mr Grime to be a knowledgeable and compassionate doctor, and am happy to be in his care. Same comments for the blood tests unit which was clean and efficient with an extremely competent phlebotomist; the pathology unit were meticulous in ensuring a correct diagnosis. The CT unit was clean and quick, but wasn't at all impressed with the technical staff here, who seemed to be rather clueless about what was going on, overall atmosphere was very unprofessional and seemed to be some rowdy radiography (? ) students hanging around unsupervised. Nonetheless, the CT results were processed very quickly. I was on ward 105 for the surgery and was really impressed with ALL the staff here, they were friendly and relaxed and went out of their way to put me at ease and to ensure I understood the aftercare procedures. Surgery went off without event. Therefore, aside from a few minor blips, I have had an excellent experience and would highly recommend the Maxillofacial Department to others- they do the NHS great credit especially given the workload constraints they are under.

Dear 'DeeCee'

Many thanks for taking the time to give us feedback.

It is always very pleasing to get such great comments from patients. We are very pleased you had such a good experience within our department.

We endeavor to treat all patients as we would wish our own relatives to be treated. It is very important to us that we deliver a high standard of care and we do that courtesy of a great team.

Thanks once again
