My Gp has requested an urgent cardiology outpatients appt as I have experienced short episodes of irregular heartbeat, confusion and fainting. The waiting time is 56 days! This is not acceptable . I have been told that in order to beat the waiting time I can call an ambulance to go to a and e. Surely it would be far more cost effective in these times of budget cuts not to have to do this and to be able to access an appointment quickly? Do they even consider that if like me, your Gp has told you not to work or drive until seen by a cardiologist , that this has a severe impact on your job security through having to wait so long for an appointment.i have always supported not calling an ambulance if at all possible due to the strain on resources but this is leaving me little choice.iI don't know if hospital consultants visit this site but if they do please consider this.
