"Completely painless wisdom tooth extraction!"

I've written this review in the hope it will help alleviate the anxiety of anyone going for wisdom tooth extraction as it was something I was something I was very anxious about myself. When I found out that I had to have a wisdom tooth removed I was terrified. I'm a grown man and I'd been dreading this for 20 years. I'd had teeth removed as a child and the anesthetic had been ineffective, resulting in painful extraction and a subsequent fear of tooth extraction. I have also found that local anesthetic has not always been as effective for me as it is seems to be for many other people and I often need several injections before it starts to work. All of this combined together left me feeling pretty scared about having the wisdom tooth removed as I simply didn't believe that the anesthetic would numb me enough for a pain free procedure, and I didn't believe that the sedative would leave me relaxed enough to go through with it. I couldn't have been more wrong. The dental surgeon was very professional and his dentist's equivalent of bedside manner really reassured me. I had the sedative put in my arm and can remember talking to him about the resultant effect, the next thing I knew I was rambling something to the nurse although I have no idea what, and the procedure was complete. I don't remember having the injections, I don't remember the extraction, I don't even recall seeing a single dentists instrument! It's like my fear of the procedure and the memory of it was entirely erased. Also, I didn't even need to take any pain killers following the procedure and could eat basically as soon as I walked out of the hospital. Although I obviously wasn't allowed to drive, the effects of the sedative quickly cleared and I just went straight back to work like nothing had happened. I'm writing this the following day and it doesn't hurt in the slightest. If anything I went from finding the prospect of the procedure absolutely terrifying, to finding the actual event fascinating! It just boggled my mind how good the sedative was. I'd previously had it described as like being drunk but I would describe it (the tiny parts I can remember) as more like being in a dream like state where you have no anxiety. It seems hard to believe before you have the procedure but it's amazingly good. As I said at the beginning of this review, I'd had this phobia for 20 years. After my experience at Salisbury hospital, if I ever needed another wisdom tooth removed, it wouldn't even bother me in the slightest. I'd really like to thank the surgeon and the nurses that I spoke to for making this whole procedure as good as it was.
