My mum was admitted to the AMU via ambulance from her care home with severe dehydration. As soon and the ambulance crew arrived I felt happy that she was in the care of knowledgeable, caring and competant people. At the AMU staff had prepared a bed for her with a pressure mattress. When the food trolley came round it smelt so good she had a good meal for the first time in days. Appropriate referrals were made and staff were friendly and caring. Mum was moved to ward 11 during the night and she is still there. The staff are fantastic, really focussing on how to get her to eat and take her tablets. Mum has Alzheimers and vascular dementia and her behaviour can be very challenging. I know that it is not an ideal place for her to be but I feel reassured that she is being very well cared for.
"Really caring staff"
