"Really caring staff"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

My mum was admitted to the AMU via ambulance from her care home with severe dehydration. As soon and the ambulance crew arrived I felt happy that she was in the care of knowledgeable, caring and competant people. At the AMU staff had prepared a bed for her with a pressure mattress. When the food trolley came round it smelt so good she had a good meal for the first time in days. Appropriate referrals were made and staff were friendly and caring. Mum was moved to ward 11 during the night and she is still there. The staff are fantastic, really focussing on how to get her to eat and take her tablets. Mum has Alzheimers and vascular dementia and her behaviour can be very challenging. I know that it is not an ideal place for her to be but I feel reassured that she is being very well cared for.

Gillian Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care that your Mum has received in the AMU department and Ward 11 at the Princess Royal Hospital, which I will pass over to the managers to share with the staff. I am pleased to hear that you feel reassured that she is being very well cared for. Di Davis Patient Advice and Liaison Service Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
