"Incredible A&E Department"

We had to visit A&E at Royal Surrey County Hospital early Sunday 2nd November following an accident my Mum had had. Due to her injuries her local A&E couldn't see her so she was taken there instead. We were so shocked at how friendly and professional the staff were during the 11 hours Mum was there. She was originally taken into A&E Majors and I was pleased to see how clean it was; completely spotless and I regularly saw cleaning staff around working hard to keep it clean. All the staff we dealt with were friendly, sympathetic to her and did not mind Dad and I being with her as well (my local A&E hate that)! We were kept informed at all times what was happening to her and they kept checking she fully understood what they were saying. Whilst in this section a surgeon came to stitch her mouth and again he was very polite, friendly, professional and made her feel at ease at all times. After a few hours she was admitted to CDU and again this was very clean and the staff there were also really wonderful. Again they didn't mind Dad & I keeping her company and when the team of doctors spoke to her they were happy for us to stay with Mum and provide input with regards to the parts of her accident she did not remember as and when required. The consultant she saw is going to arrange follow up appointments as she feels things need to be investigated further. Mum was never made to feel a nuisance at any point during her time there, which again is unlike our local A&E! All staff were extremely sympathetic to what had happened to her and were genuinely interested in her welfare and getting her better. We genuinely wish this was our local A&E and not about 20 miles away as I strongly feel when you have to go to Hospital it should be as pleasant an experience as possible & that the staff there should look after you which is exactly what this incredible team did.
