"Pre-op Assessment Blunder/2"

About: St Albans City Hospital

I attended the Pre-op Assessment Department at St Albans Hospital on Monday, 3/11/14. I mentioned to the person on the desk the oversight on behalf of someone who appears not to have noticed that my MRSA swab was out of date in time for it to be repeated before my procedure. I said to her that I had been told I could not go to Hemel Hempstead Hospital to repeat the swab because that unit was closed. The St Albans person said "Oh no, it is still open but will close in December"! This is adding one blunder to another and has caused me a great deal of stress in reorganising visits to the hospital and the postponement of my procedure, plus now having no transport back from the hospital to my home. I should like to state that I have had several operations/procedures at St Albans Hospital and have always been cared for wonderfully. The nursing staff are superb. It is a shame that administrative staff are not so good.
