My girlfriend who is epileptic due to a pre-existing situation was admitted to Canterbury A & E due to not being able to eat or drink for 4 days and passed out in the GP's office.
It took an hour and a half for a doctor to initially come and see her, I was quite surprised as a young female who was malnourished, dehydrated, had just had a syncope and is an epileptic, need to be seen as soon as they get to the hospital, anyone who is malnourished, dehydrated and had a syncope should be seen immediately when arriving to hospital! !
Further lack of urgency took place and after 2 canular attempts the third one was lucky and did not tissue, questions ensued surrounding background, actions and feelings, not one question about the pre-existing situation.
The situation got worse as the Dr's disregarded the answers provided by the patient, and made her feel like she was lying to them and appeared to make a diagnosis without informing the patient (NHS policy to do so) and moving out of A & E before leaving to go home for the day! This is not a system that cares for the individuals it cares for!
