"There aren't enough words to explain how grateful I am"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / General medicine Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Crisis resolution

(as the patient),

A month ago I was in the worst place mentally I ever have been. I was suicidal, self harming and ending up in a&e multiple times a month. I snapped and took an overdose. I was found and taken to a&e. I was seen by a horrible doctor who seemed to think that all the problems I have in life and the reason I self harm is because I don't have a boyfriend. Never mind the fact that I've been diagnosed with various mental health conditions including bpd. After his treatment I was very upset. I was taken to a ward were every single one of the other doctors and nurses I saw were beyond lovely, they went above and beyond their duty. One nurse sat with me for an hour while I cried and had a panic attack.

After I was medically fit I was seen by two members of the crisis team. These two women although they probably don't realise it, are likely to have saved my life. They were down to earth and spoke to me like I was an actual human instead of a chore they had to get through before they could go home. For the first time ever, I was offered follow up treatment, which I'm now receiving and will hopefully be helpful. One of the workers argued my case for me against the university when they tried to kick me out for being to unstable. She's managed to restore my faith in the mental health services and has actually given me hope that there's a possibility life might get better. I genuinely believe that if it wasn't for the crisis teams intervention, I would undoubtedly be in a much worse place, possibly dead.

There aren't enough words to explain how grateful I am

Dear 72ickyhope

I am very sorry to hear about your experience in the A&E Department. I would be grateful for the opportunity to feed back to the doctor who saw you and I wonder if you would be prepared to let us know your name so that we can work out who it was and investigate the concerns you raise. If you could email your details to patient.experience@ulh.nhs.uk, the team will forward them to me and I can then speak to you.

We would also like to share youre lovely comments relating to the ward staff but dont know which ward you were admitted to. Please do contact us as we would like to share with all of the ward staff and in particular the nurse who sat with you.
