"CQC ratings and cleanliness"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

On the main website for your hospital, it states that all standards are met by the CQC and this is characterised by a green tick. This is patently untrue as your recent review by the CQC in July 2014 had an overall rating of "requires improvement". This information on your website is misleading and inaccurate. On visiting my elderly parent in the urology ward (C22) during October/November 2014 I witnessed a bag on the floor full of blood, spilt and just mopped up with towels. This stayed like this until the end of the visit. On another day, again whilst visiting recently, there were dried faeces on the floor of the ward. It also appears that you cannot input any ratings on this feedback site in relation to the treatment and care as it just does not allow this.

Dear Ms Footitt Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our C22 ward at Royal Blackburn Hospital, and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I have passed your concerns onto the team and the matron would like to know what dates in particular your parent was on the ward so that she can further investigate. Could you possible email me with these or contact her directly on julie.jones@elht.nhs.uk. so that she can do so? I am very sorry to hear that your recent experience of our care for your elderly parent wasn't what you expected as we always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care; which it clearly sounds like did not occur on this occasion on this particular ward. If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made this such a poor experience of our care for you we would really value this so that we can try to improve things for every patient visiting our hospitals and services. You can either contact me (Wendy Stobbs) on 01254 734471/ 01254 733704 or email me on wendy.stobbs@elht.nhs.uk. Or if you prefer you can discuss further any concerns you may have about our services with our Customer Relations team on 01254 733700 or complaints@elht.nhs.uk who can advise you of your options in raising these concerns further. Many thanks Wendy Stobbs, Patient Experience Facilitator
