"I had my Appendix removed"

About: Southampton General Hospital

On thursday i took myself to the A+E department at Southampton General Hospital with abdominal pains. I had no idea what was causing them but the triage nurse sent me straight to the major injury ward/unit. The nurse and the doctor were nothing short of amazing... they made sure i was comfortable and if anything needed doing, they were there. It turned out i had appendicitis and had to have it removed. The surgeons and other docs involved were again very very informative and supportive, helping me throughout the whole ordeal. The icing on the cake was the ward afterwards... ward F5... the nurses there are truly amazing people; (even if i am missing half my arm hairs from the canular tape ;) although they were all just amazing. Im diabetic so they had to check my sugars every hour or so... and whatever i needed they were there to help. Watching them with other patients just showed that you have to be a certain type of person to be a nurse, and theres absolutely nothing that i or my girlfriend could fault about my stay there, so thank you all so much.

Thank you very much for taking to the time to feed back your very positive comments about the care you received in the Emergency Department and then on F5 ward when you were admitted with appendicitis. We were pleased to read about how helpful, informative and supportive the staff were and your comments will be shared with the teams involved. We trust that you are now well on the way to a full recovery.
