"Worst hospital experience to date"

About: The Whittington Hospital

I can always appreciate that the nhs is strained, with low wages, high density population and not enough staff. However I have been to several hospitals in and around london, and have always been looked after with dignity and cleanliness. There has only been a few staff members who have treated me kindly, and who didn't seem to offload their understaffing issues onto me. I was dumped at xray, in front of a doorway, and the porter left without saying anything. I was them brought back to triage where I had to wait 8 hours to be put into a ward. In that time I wasn't offered any water or food despite being told I was going to be staying in for a few days. I asked for food when I arrived in the ward at 6:30 and didn't get anything until 11pm. The people on the ward have also been quite rude, again taking out understaffing onto the patients, (one of who had cancer in my room). I was also a bit miffed that when my same sex boyfriend came along to drop stuff off, we weren't allowed to close the curtains for some privacy, despite me being in wards all day with curtains continuously open. It would have been nice for the two minutes I got to see him that it wasn't infront of the whole ward. It is always a scary thing coming into a and e, especially when you don't know what is wrong, so I should expect a level of care to reduce any stress.
