Earlier this year I had a heart attack at home and a paramedic was called. He arrived in about 5 minutes. He was fantastic, did all the tests and sent for an ambulance which arrived quickly and I was taken to Rotherham A&E. While waiting to go to a ward I had a cardiac arrest and the crash team were alerted and I had to have two shocks. My life was quite literally saved by this team.
I was taken on to the coronary care ward where the care was fantastic again. I spent 3 weeks getting better and stronger they decided I needed a pacemaker fitted and I was sent to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
The care there was not as good there as they kept having to have meetings about me but could not decide what to do and it took three weeks for them to decide to fit the pacemaker and I was discharged 2 days later. I feel I should also have had a stent fitted as well but they decided it was too dangerous to do it. I felt the way some doctors treated me was undignified.
I was referred to Sarah Briggs Cardiac Nurse in Rotherham when discharged and she has been fantastic and I could not have asked for better care she has sorted out my tablets and changed them all to treat my illness nothing is too much trouble for her.
There is nothing she does not know about the heart and she is so pleasant and friendly if their is anything wrong she will ring straight away.
