From September 2008 till now I have been attending neurology department at Walton Hospital. My spine is not in a good condition as my nerves going into my legs, arms and bum start to hurt in the late afternoon and evening. I attended the pain clinic which did not help, so I was referred to a consultant. He informed me that I needed an operation but that he would not do it. Therefore, I was discharged and suffered for a long time without any help. Over time the pain just got worse so I went back to the doctors crying and asked to be referred again to a different consultant. I was then given a C.T and an MRI scan which showed I needed an operation and I was given tranquilisers. When I went back to see the consultant, I was not given an opportunity to discuss the situation with him as he just walked in and out of my cubicle. This time the doctors referred me to a physiotherapist and booked me in for another MRI scan to check the bottom of my spine. My GP kindly wrote to ask to have the scan moved forward because of the amount of pain I was in but they said no. On one occasion I had to go to A&E but they just told me to go to my doctor. I am in so much pain but I have no choice but to wait till May. I just don’t know where to go to get help. The doctor is trying to help but has not been successful. I am coming up to 75 years of age and I have been treated in this way. No one wants to help or seems to care. I feel very unhappy and am finding things very difficult.
