"Thanks for saving my life"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

Two weeks ago, in the early hours of the morning, I was admitted to Musgrove Park Hospital suffering from a heart attack and I wish to express my gratitude and praise for all the staff who treated and cared for me. During our dash down the M5, the staff were already in communication with the ambulance crew and upon arrival I was taken straight into the theatre when the surgeon and his team were already in place to perform the angioplasty. I later learned they had all been called in the early hours and must have made a superb effort to be ready for me. The operation was performed swiftly, everything was explained to me and I was reassured throughout. I spent the next four days in the Coronary Care Unit where the nursing and other staff could not have been more caring and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Some worked long shifts and were as cheerful towards patients at the end as they had been at the outset. The doctors who visited me were clear and explained my progress well. The surgeon who had treated me also came to the ward to explain the procedure. I must also mention the others who formed part of the care I received at Musgrove Park: cleaning staff (the place was spotless and I have seen hospitals that are not), porters, the rehab team, the chaplain, the pharmacist, administration and reception staff. All seemed to work as an efficient team. And finally the food. Hospital food does not have a good reputation if the press are to be believed, but the food was of a really high standard, plentiful and served hot. Everyone was concerned to ensure that I was well fed and never left hungry. I would never wish a heart attack on anyone, but for those like me unfortunate enough to suffer one I would recommend that they do so within reach of Musgrove Park Hospital.

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to write to give praise to the staff who recently cared for you at Musgrove Park. It is always a pleasure to receive commendations such as yours and I thank you for your kind comments which I will pass on to all the staff you have mentioned; positive feedback is much appreciated. I was very sorry to read of your heart attack and hope this finds you making a good recovery. Lucille Hoose. PALS & Complaints Lead
