"Hospital Trust top management failures"

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

I was in the respiratory wards for a week. The nursing staff were absolute Angels. Their patience and diligence was supreme in very difficult situations, not of their making. On the wall was a huge notice about zero tolerance about bad behavior of patients towards staff. Here the top management failed their staff miserably. I had two patients in my ward who verbally abused, continually staff and other patients, the abuse continual, every couple of minutes. The management did absolutely nothing to support the nursing staff. I asked why the staff didn't complain, the answer was the management won't and haven't in the past done anything. I would have thought a quiet word from the management that yes the Trust had a duty to treat them, however further action would be taken against them on their discharge unless their behavior improved. The abuse was appalling and racist.

Dear Lindsay Thank you for your compliments about the team on the respiratory wards. They will be very pleased to hear them. While the great majority of patients are polite and appreciative, the behaviour of a small number can be difficult. Often there is a reason for this but sometimes there is no excuse. We are sorry that you felt staff were not being supported. Your comments will be noted by managers and the security team.
