"Hip replacement"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I would like to thank the consultant for my hip replacement, and the anesthetist for looking after me and making the surgery possible. I would like to thank pre opp assesment unit also the the pre opp unit and recovery ward, the lovely staff on Pembrook Ward who looked after me so well. I was moved at midnight which was not ideal, but someone needed my bed more than I did. I was moved to Sunderland Day Care, staff lovely offered me drinks and toast and i was made very comfortable. I also thank the team that came to visit me at home, everyone was great and I felt cared for and looked after. Food ok,but Im a diabetic on diet control which was a bit difficult,no diabetic desserts,or plain yogurt,I was offered banana which is full of sugar,It wasnt much of a problem for three days but for longer term I would have had to have food brought from home. Thank you all you lovely people.

Response from Medway Maritime Hospital

Thank you for providing us with feedback following your recent patient experience within the orthopaedic department. I have shared your gratitude with the multidisciplinary teams that were involved with each stage of your treatment and care. I am sorry to hear that you had a disrupted night when you were moved from Pembroke Ward to Sunderland Day Care Centre to enable another specialised patient to be placed onto the orthopaedic ward. I thank you for your understanding and cooperation with the ward movement, however, this is not best practice and is an unusual circumstance. I also apologise that on this occasion we did not meet your dietary needs during your stay with us. Again, thank you for providing positive feedback as well as points for improvements. Kind regards Samantha Goldberg, Associate Director of Operations
