About: Royal Berkshire Hospital / Paediatrics

(as the patient),

hi there my 18month old son was addmitted to the Royal berkshire Hospital in november 2006 for orbital cellulitis, he was in hospital for a week bfore they eventually operated on him! im telling you my story because as a mother i was absolutley horrified to come back after popping out for a ciggerette to find my son drugged up to his eyeballs in a metal cot with no cot bumpers or anything for safety! my son had several lumps and bumps as he was that drugged up each time he tried to get up he smacked himself against the metal cot, when i reached out to grab my son from the cot to see what was up with him he started biting me in some kind of frenzy. i took my son out to the nurses station and asked why my son was like this! they told me they had given him sedation as he needed a head scan, after an hour and a half my son was till awake and biting me so the doctors decided to drug my son even more. After 3hrs and 45 mins and me in tears my son actually fell asleep! we are now in 2007 and in the month of april and my son is still having problems despite me raising concerns on checkups - nothing has been done and i am now taking him back to this hospital to ask for a tranfer and a second opinion, i have also sought legal advice about sedating my son when i was not present.
