I was admitted to The Jefferson Ward for surgery & the surgery is done in 2 parts SCS, Spinal Cord Stimulation. The first part is done while awake in theatre & I was so very anxious & I also suffer with anxiety issues.
I arrived on the Jefferson Ward with my husband at 8:30 am & I was greeted by every single nurse & every member of staff saying good morning and I was shown straight to my bed. Because I live in Southport, I was worried that my husband would have to leave me, which made me even more anxious, but to our surprise we were told he was very welcome to stay with me & I was so relived I cried.
Every nurse that came to confirm my details, automatically realised how frightened I was. They were amazing. When I went into theatre (the procedure is done under local) every single person was amazing, & there were lots of people in theatre as with this procedure you even have a rep there as they need to programme the devices.
Each & every professional including the Surgeon Dr Ganty, treated me at a pace I was happy with, & I didn't feel rushed or a burden once. The nurse who held my hand for 3 & a half hours (I can't remember her name) & spoke to me through everything was truly amazing & she made a massive difference to the way I felt.
The nurses on the ward even looked after my husband while I was in theatre. Me & my husband felt we needed to contact you and tell you about our experience. All the staff, Dr Ganty, the nurses that was involved in my care were fantastic & deserve so much credit & praise for the job they do & they certainly went that extra step because I was so so frightened & they all took such good care of me & looked after me so well and I can't thank them enough.
Thank you so much for all the hard work you ALL do each & everyday.
"So pleased with my stay at The Walton Centre on Jefferson Ward"
