"A person I could talk to and really open to"

About: Inclusion Matters Sefton

(as the patient),

I saw Gemma and found her to be very calm and reassuring. When I was asked by my doctor to attend Inclusion Matters I was a bit reluctant as I had spoken to my friends and family and felt it wouldn’t help talking to anyone who didn’t know me and what I felt or what I was going through. But I found Gemma, a person I could talk to and really open to, she helped me see that I had been bottling things up and that It was a knock on effect. And she helped me to understand I needed to put strategies into place and be able to deal with life, work and what was happening in my life better.

I won’t say it’s easy but it’s easier and I am now practising learnt behaviour which takes time, to learn and practice in everyday life. And knowing that Gemma and IM are only at the end of a phone and with support of my family and friends and the help I received I can enjoy my life.

Again many thanks to Gemma for her help and guidance

Dear 'Boss391',

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback for us on Patient Opinion. We love to hear about peoples experiences as it helps us to grow as a service and lets people know what to expect when they come to us for treatment.

I'm pleased to hear that despite initial reservations (which many people share) you found your sessions helpful. Your story shows how important it is to take that brave step of asking for help.

I will pass your feedback on to Gemma. Please keep practicing the things you've learnt during treatment and if things become difficult again you know where we are.

Best wishes for the future,

Lizzie
