"Professional care for DVT"

About: Western General Hospital / Haematology

(as the patient),

On a flight to London, I developed a DVT (blood clot in my leg). I struggled on, flew home, and only 2 days later went to my GP, who referred me to the Western General in Edinburgh, where a scan revealed the DVT. 4 days under observation, while medication took effect, then a period of blood testing at my GP, and a lifetime course of Warfarin.

Dear Luckybiker

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on Patient Opinion. It was fortunate that your DVT was diagnosed quickly and treated. I know it is not ideal to be on Warfarin for the rest of your life but hopefully it will prevent further issues and keep you well.
